New Online Payment and Autopay System Information

Fayette Utility Customers:

The City of Fayette will be switching our current online payment system to PACE Payment Systems (PACE). This will impact customers using the online payment portal (credit card, debit card or bank transactions) and the monthly automatic bank withdrawal or autopay to pay their utility bills.

On April 20, 2022, the new system, PACE, will go live. Once PACE goes live, you may access it by clicking “Pay Online” on our website, www.fayetteiowa.com. You will then automatically be redirected to PACE.

You will need a username and password to enter the new PACE portal.

Username:  The first four letters of the last name on the account (not case sensitive) and the four-digit water/utility account number. [See example below].

Password:   The same as your current password. [Contact city hall if you do not have a password and would like to sign-up.]

The new fees for online payments (credit cards and debit cards) will be the following:

Transactions up to $50.00 – $1.30 per transaction

Transactions over $50.00 – 2.6% of payment amount per transaction

PACE will require autopay customers (automatic monthly bank withdrawals) to pay the following fees:

Transactions up to $500.00 – $0.99 per transaction

Transactions over $500.00 – 1% per payment amount per transaction

All current autopay customers will need to reapply for monthly autopay withdrawals by completing the “City of Fayette Authorization Agreement for Monthly Auto Payments” form and return it to city hall.

If you are currently not an autopay customer but would like to apply, please complete the “City of Fayette Authorization Agreement for Monthly Auto Payments” form and return it to city hall. Customers that apply for autopay will continue to receive a utility bill, so you are aware of how much will be deducted from your bank account.

Starting in May 2022, the autopay bank withdrawals will take place on or near the 8th of each month. Customers who have completed the "Auto Payments" form and return it to city hall by April 29, 2022, will have their first autopay bank withdrawal take place on or near May 8, 2022.

Please contact city hall at 563-425-4316 with questions or concerns.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Why is the City of Fayette switching to PACE Payment Systems (PACE)?

- Our current utility billing software no longer supports the old online payment and autopay system, so we must switch to a company our software supports.

Why is there now a fee for autopay users?

- Our previous autopay system did not have a fee for autopay customers but the new autopay system charges a $0.99 fee for autopay bank transactions up to $500.00. This fee goes to the PACE Payment Systems (PACE) company and not to the City of Fayette. Autopay transactions over $500.00 will be charged a fee of 1% of the payment amount.

I do not want to use autopay once the new fees start. How do I stop the autopay service?

- You do not need to do anything. We are automatically deleting all of the current autopay customers on April 19, 2022. You will still continue to receive your utility bill by email or by mail, however you are currently signed up. Still plan on your auto-payment to come out on April 11, 2022, (with no fees), but that will be your last auto-payment.

I want to continue to have autopay once the new fees start. What do I need to do?

- You will need to fill out a new “City of Fayette Authorization Agreement for Monthly Auto Payments” form and return it to Fayette City Hall. If you return the completed form by April 29, 2022, then you will automatically be re-enrolled with autopay and your withdrawal will take place on the 8th of each month, starting with May 8, 2022.

I am currently not signed up for autopay. How do I sign up as a new customer?

- You will need to fill out a “City of Fayette Authorization Agreement for Monthly Auto Payments” form and return it to Fayette City Hall. If you return the completed form by April 29, 2022, then you will automatically be re-enrolled with autopay and your withdrawal will take place on the 8th of each month, starting with May 8, 2022.

I pay my bill by credit card online. What changes do I need to know about?

- The fees have changed to the following: Transactions up to $50.00 are $1.30 per transaction and transactions over $50.00 are 2.6% of the payment amount per transaction. You will also have a new Username to log in. It will be the first four letters of the last name on the account (not case sensitive) and the four-digit water/utility account number. [See example above in the notice]. The password will be the same as your password you have always used.

I am currently not signed up to make payments online. How do I sign up to do that?

- You will need to fill out an application, “Fayette Utility Application", and make sure you write in a password where it indicates on the application. Return the completed application to Fayette City Hall. It may take a few days to get you into the system.

There is no place like home. And there is no place like Fayette.
